Gandhinagar: Two flagship financial incentive schemes — Namo Lakshmi Yojana and Namo Saraswati Sadhana Yojana — have successfully boosted school enrolment, improved attendance, and encouraged students to complete higher secondary education, the state govt said.While the Namo Lakshmi scheme, aimed at girl students, provides a total financial assistance of Rs 50,000 — Rs 20,000 in Classes 9 and 10 and Rs 30,000 in Classes 11 and 12 — to girl students, the Namo Saraswati Sadhana scheme provides a financial assistance of Rs 25,000 — Rs 10,000 for Class 11 and Rs 15,000 for Class 12 students — who opt for the science stream at the higher secondary education level.According to govt sources, total female enrolment surged 4.63% from 13.29 lakh to 13.91 lakh in one year, an increase of 61,546. Grade 12 enrolment of girls shot up 13.59% in a year. Govt officials said zero-attendance saw a 50% reduction, from 92,491 to 47,358. Under the Namo Saraswati scheme, total enrolment rose to 2.55 lakh students in the 2025-26 academic year, an increase of 6.34% over the past year, sources said. For class 12 science, enrolment increased by 11.04%, officials said, adding that attendance in the 81% to 89% attendance bracket more than doubled, reaching 43,533 students.
